The University of the Aegean Library acts as an essential element of the University’s teaching and research functions.
The Library plays a leading role in the “Aegean Ark” pilot project for a virtual library in the Greek Archipelago funded by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology.
The overriding goal of the Library’s mission is to actively participate in the scientific and applied research intended to assist library management and improve overall library effectiveness. Research programmes, such as “Libraries without Walls” and “EQLIPSE”, are part of this specific category of research programmes.
The Library plays an active role in other research programmes, like the “Dolihi Programme” and the “Special Enhancement Programmme”.
