The Central Library in Mytilene (on Lesvos island), is responsible for coordinating and supervising the operation of the regional branches of the Library and their strategic development.

At the same time it is responsible for procuring and accepting materials as well as supporting both the library automation and general purpose library computerized applications. It is also responsible for communicating with other libraries, services and organizations in Greece and abroad and for keeping aggregated statistical data.

Finally, the involvement of the Central Library in various projects has also aimed to upgrade the provided services to users and to promote and preserve the spiritual wealth of the Archipelago

According to the new organizational plan of the University the Central Library consists of the following sections:

- Administration
- Department of Development and Support of Digital Library Services - Digital Material
- Department of Collection Development, Library Science Standardization – Project Management and Resources
