Dear Customer,
In September, Scopus announced to its customers two important new features:
PatentCites and WebCites.
PatentCites was released on September 22. We are pleased to announce that WebCites will be available as of today. In addition to Scopus Cited-By's and PatentCites, Scopus now also offers WebCites. WebCites enables users to track the influence of peer reviewed research on web literature. As web information becomes increasingly important to scientific researchers, WebCites is a large step forward in integrating web information in Scopus. The highlights of this new feature are:
* WebCites shows the number of times an article in Scopus has been cited by web documents from selected scientific web sources, clicking on this number takes the user to a web results page in Scopus.
* Scopus makes a clear distinction between Cited By's from peer-reviewed literature, patent citations and web citations.
* Carefully selected sources (such as Courseware sites, Thesis and Dissertation databases, Institutional Repositories) and a very strict matching policy ensure that WebCites only delivers correct and relevant citations.
Scopus offers the best single context for literature research and is a superior tool for research investigation and evaluation. This new feature adds to the already dynamic Scopus environment and, as an integral part of the product, is available to all our customers at no extra charge. If you would like to know more, or tell us what you think, please contactyour local helpdesk or see "contact" at: www.info.scopus.com
We trust you and your users will find this change a valuable improvement to the literature research process.
Many thanks,
The Scopus Team
